Load Pins for Fish Farm Application 📰
20th Sep 2024Designed for a company in Chile specialising in the design and construction of salmon cages, these submersible load pins will be installed in the joints of 80 metre x 80 metre cages that can hold up to 400,000 fish (the largest in Chile) to monitor the load/stress levels on the cage structure. The fish farm is located in an area that experiences extreme current and wave conditions, so the use of remote and real-time monitoring of environmental factors and the effect they have on the salmon cage structure is critical. The load pins are rated to 50 tonnes and are suitable for permanent use underwater. They will be wired to a telemetry acquisition module mounted above on the surface of the cages, which will receive the data and transmits wirelessly to a ruggedised tablet PC for data logging and review.
