750 Tonne Load Pins for Anchor Load Monitoring 📰
14th May 2021We have recently despatched an order for 40 load pins, each rated to 750 tonnes with a diameter of 320mm and are 910mm long. Weighing a very hefty 560kgs each, they are ATEX/IECEx approved for use in Zone 1 and 2 hazardous areas, and have been supplied with full 3.2 material certification. A design review, dimensional checks and witnessing of proof load and calibration was carried out by DNV.
The load pins will be installed on a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel that is currently being built for the Bacalhau field in the Santos Basin in Brazil, where it will be permanently moored at a depth of around 2000 metres via a spread mooring system. They will be housed in the chain stoppers to provide tension load monitoring during anchoring manoeuvres, to ensure loads on the mooring lines stay within safe operational limits.
